From the mid-Florence campsite, cross the Florence Stream, then the north branch. Sidle alongside the main stream, before climbing to Lake 465. It is easily traversed on the north side, albeit with a bit of windfall. Cross the creek at the top and get to the next stream, ascending on a good deer trail on the TL. Get through scrubby leads over Pt 894, and follow up the stream, crossing on the open flats. More scrub bashing needed before following up on the TL to the base of a spectacular cataract. Climb this on the TL, before a route over rock slabs opens on your right. This Stairway to Heaven takes you up moderately steep slopes to be above Lake 1023. There are good campsites on this ridge.
